Villa’s Night In

Virtual attendees: Estimated 250+

The brief

Villa Academy had planned to hold its annual auction and fundraiser on its campus in April 2020. When the COVID-19 pandemic made that impossible, the school needed to create a virtual event instead.

The solution

SparkWood Events was enlisted to plan the 2020 in-person event. It was decided to take that planning and move the event to 2021. With much planning and creativity from all parties, a unique hybrid event was created. There was an online auction open for 32 hours. The school’s community was able to purchase prepared meals ordered from a fabulous caterer and wine from two local wineries online through the auction website. The families then drove through the school grounds on the day of the auction to pick up their dinners and participate in a “socially distanced” parade with their teachers and staff waving on.

Once home, they could call into pre-program ‘happy hour” Zoom meetings by grade level. The prerecorded program was available to stream on You Tube and then an opportunity to donate online to the school.

It was a great way to create connection in a time of physical distancing and Villa Academy was able to surpass their fundraising goals.
